Auto Transport NevadaDespite being the 7th largest state in the U.S. in terms of total area it is the 35th largest in terms of total population, with a population 2.8 million residents. As such, Nevada’s population density ranks it 42nd in the U.S., which can make it harder to find transportation to or from many areas of the state, especially if you’re shipping somewhere other than Las Vegas or Reno, two of the most popular auto transport destinations in the state. Nevada was carved out of the Utah Territory in 1859 and became a state five years later, thanks mainly to the discovery of the Comstock Lode, which has to this day vast veins of gold and silver. Nevada is currently the fourth largest producer of gold in the world.

Nevada is perhaps one of the most difficult states for auto transporters to get around in due to the fact that most of its two largest population centers (Las Vegas and Reno) are not linked by any major highways, interstate or state. In fact, there are only two major interstates that run through Nevada; I-80 services much of the northern part of the state, running east-west through Reno, and I-15, which runs through the southwestern tip of the state, through Las Vegas, and out the northeastern border. Though there are many federal and state routes that criss-cross through Nevada, they mostly service smaller areas and can be costly to transport vehicles to and from there. Expect prices to be higher into and out of Nevada than other areas, especially if you are shipping from a more rural part of the state.

Nevada’s climate is dry and arid, thanks mainly to most of the state sitting within the Great Basin. It is the driest state in the U.S. and temperatures during the summer months often top 100 degrees in Las Vegas, the state’s largest city. Snow and rain are uncommon during most of the year, with the lowest point in the state receiving just seven inches of rainfall per year on average. High temperatures during the summer months may deter some shipping companies from transporting through the area, as high temperatures can wreak havoc on unprotected or over-worked engines. Winter transportation is not nearly as difficult through Nevada as other states, especially more northern ones, but the lack of interstates does not help to lower the price much at all.

Tourism is perhaps the state’s largest economic sector. With resort cities such as Las Vegas, Reno, Lake Tahoe and Laughlin all residing in the state Nevada is known for its tourism and tourist-driven industries. Outside of Las Vegas and Reno, however, agriculture and particularly mining are the largest economic sectors. Gold mined in Nevada accounted for an astounding 8.7% of all the gold mined in the world and brought in an estimated $2.84 billion of revenue into the state. Silver mining is a close second, with agricultural sectors making up much of the remaining economic sectors. Hotels are also a major part of the economy, with one hotel room in Nevada for every 14 residents – this is directly caused by the large number of tourists who visit the state each year.
